Circular economies
The Problem >
India generates over 1 million tonnes of textile waste annually, yet rural women remain excluded from reuse, design, and resale economies. At the same time, tribal farmers are forced to sell raw produce at rock-bottom prices due to broken, exploitative supply chains.
< Our Solution
We upskill tribal women in fabric recovery, handloom weaving, and sustainable textile production—turning waste into traceable, sellable goods.
Raah Creative Design is a social enterprise of Raah Foundation. This enterprise is a market link for the tribal artisans of the Sahyadris to come forward and sell their designs. We are always on the lookout for long term market linkages focused on generating incomes for these resilient women of Palghar and Raigad districts. What We Do
Circular economies reimagine growth by aligning with nature’s own cycle, where nothing is wasted, and every output becomes an input for something creative. Instead of extraction and disposal, we believe in reuse, repair, and regeneration. We turn waste into livelihoof opportunities for communities building resilience and honoring nature’s rhythm.
< Where
This aspect of our work operates in tribal clusters across Palghar and Raigad, with rich craft heritage and abundant farm output, but no access to structured markets. These regions suffer from both economic leakage and gendered exclusion from value creation.
How >
We establish local production units for weaving, processing, and aggregation, supported by training in design, quality control, and digital sales. Farmers are organised into producer groups, and women into SHGs, both linked to markets that recognise the value of climate-smart, circular production.
